Pot of Joy (inspired by 1930s floral ceramics)

I had a moment this month when i spotted a part dinner set that sparked joy. It wasn't in good enough condition to use nor display, what with crazing, chips and a badly mended horrific break to a tureen. And yet...

 I had to make something to honour the joy the set evoked. It dated from the mid 1930s so saw its owners through a war. I hope it gave hope and joy to them.

I wish I could buy an everyday set like this now. Goodness knows the world needs it. 

Inspired I set to work, trying to recreate that joy in felt.

Back in Blogland

 It feels like I’ve come full circle back to Blogland. I briefly dabbled in FB, until I realised it wasted my time showing me things I wasn’t interested in, and missed important things. I looked at what people were doing on IG, but after a friend had her photos stolen, I knew it wasn’t for me. I know we aren’t 2008 when this was cutting technology, but they should have made it more tablet and phone friendly by now.  I’m slower to make things than I was back then, so maybe there will be fewer photos and fewer posts? Snow Queen coatagin

 I saw this German Herringbone stitch in a clothing book for children based on fairy tales. I thought it looked useful so cast on 482 stitches and made a skirt part in it. Just stocking stitch for the bodice and sleeves with doubled over garter stitch for the neck band and cuffs. Single garter stitch for the button bands.
